STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION OF ARIZONA
Central Chapter Dinner Meeting:
Concrete to Concrete Connections and the Effects of Fire on Post-Installed Rebar
As post-installed rebar connections become more prevalent in the construction industry, there has been concern on performance of the adhesives used in the case of a fire event. Fires can impact all types of structures and understanding the fire-resistance of your post-installed rebar connections can help designers provide sufficient development length for a fire-rated design. This presentation discusses the impacts of high heat on bond-strength, the new developments in the acceptance criteria for optional fire testing on organic adhesives in rebar connections, and innovations in inorganic adhesive solutions and how they provide superior fire resistance.
