Coconino County, AZ
Christopher Young is the Chief Building Official for Coconino County. He has a degree in Fire Engineering and has worked for 32 years in the Municipal/County Government and 23 years as a Building Official. After 20 years as a career firefighter/paramedic in New York, he's a Retired Battalion Chief. Mr. Young served as the Commissioner of Building and Codes for the City of Toledo and the Building Official in Arlington Washington. He's been affiliated with the ICC, including the ICC Building Official Membership Council, a Member of the ICC Codes and Standards Committee and the 2nd Vice President of the Grand Canyon Chapter of the ICC. In his spare time he enjoys teaching, golf, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and SCUBA diving.
Jesse Newton is the Lead Plans Examiner for the Coconino County Building Division. He has worked in Coconino County for the last 23 years after serving in the U.S. Navy for eight years as a F/A-18 Fighter, H-60 and H2 Helicopters. In Coconino County he has served as Temporary Building Inspector, Apprentice Building Inspector, Building Inspector, Plan Review Technician, Plans Examiner and Lead Plans Examiner. He's a member of the ICC Sustainability Education Development Committee and certified through ICC as Plans Examiner and Building Inspector in several areas. His hobbies include martial arts, golfing, fishing and gaming.
