Sub Slab Depressurization

Speakers: David Deatherage PE and Bob Brown

  • Accumulation of water under existing slabs is responsible for considerable damage of structures due to the volumetric changes as the soils interact with additional water, floor covering debonding, and mold.

A patent pending system has been developed using sub slab depressurization that follows the environmental remediation technique of soil venting. Over 300 applications have currently been installed. Data has been collected to verify performance.

The presentation gives an overview of the concepts and first principles behind the system and its initial development, followed by how it is applied and a review of the data accumulated so far.
