Aquarium Construction Site Tour
OdySea Aquarium is a 200,000 square foot, 3 story concrete tilt panel building with composite steel beam and mild reinforced elevated concrete floor systems. It features 14 large concrete tanks, many of which are on the 3rd floor including Sea Trek, an interactive underwater scuba-type experience. Due to a "pie-shaped" building with non-linear radial girder lines, there are over 1200 unique beams on the project. Due to the unusual shape, traditional grids and dimensions did not provide enough information to build the structure, therefore dimensions and coordinates are taken exclusively from the 3D Revit model. Features such as an escalator down through a tank, giant spherical fish bowls suspended from the floor and a large circular theater all make this a one-of-a-kind project.
